Born in Dundee, Scotland, Irene came to England at an early age, grew up in Eccles, Manchester, and attended Eccles Grammar School.She trained to be a nurse at Hope Hospital, Salford, qualifying in 1979 and has since gained additional qualifications in teaching and management.
In 1993 Irene became involved in care homes, working as a registered nurse in a Newcastle upon Tyne nursing home, where she soon progressed to management level. Irene has managed care homes in the North East and the Midlands,
taking over ownership of Blackrod House in May 2007. Irene’s main goal is to enhance the life and comfort of every resident in the home.

Born in Tonge Moor, Bolton. Gaynor attended Smithills Secondary School and Canon Slade Sixth Form College gaining academic qualifications including psychology and communication studies.
Having worked in the care industry for most of her adult life, Gaynor has studied to achieve NVQ levels 2, 3 and 4 in Care. She has been at Blackrod house since 2004, progressing from Senior Care Assistant to Management level. In 2007 Gaynor achieved the Registered Manager’s award (RMA) also gaining additional qualifications in Reflexology, First Aid, Infection Control and Dementia Care. Gaynor has a keen interest in the study of Elderly Mental Health.
Married with one daughter, Gaynor now lives in Astley Bridge, Bolton |
