ACCOMMODATION AND AMENITIES
Providing long term care services for 17 people aged over 65 years for both male and female clients, Blackrod House spares no effort to ensure that the emotional as well as physical needs of its residents are well catered for. Among the residents’ facilities are a television lounge, and a quiet lounge. The sunny conservatory looks out onto the enclosed gardens, which, with patio areas and raised flower beds offer peace, safety and tranquil surroundings all year round. Some of the ground floor rooms also have patio access to the courtyard and garden.
The spacious dining room offers delicious home made food, prepared and cooked on the premises by our excellent cook. Specialist diets, including vegetarian and diabetic are catered for, and there are always at least two choices for each course. See sample menu.
Blackrod House is proud of the all embracing nature of the services offered. The fees charged include, in addition to full board and care, personal laundry undertaken on the premises, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, outings and entertainment. Local telephone calls and newspapers are also provided at no extra charge. A hairdresser visits the home regularly: hairdressing, ie: perms and cuts are charged for as required. We provide activities such as parties, outings, musical exercises, games, crafts and pub lunches, etc.
The maintenance of dignity, independence and self-determination are important, and will be respected. To this end, this home has been designed to ensure that the majority of rooms can be used for single occupation. Residents, who wish to share however, may be accommodated in a twin room. Residents may choose whether to stay in their own independent accommodation or to mix with the other residents in the communal areas. All accommodation, including the 5-person lift and the toilet and bathing facilities has been designed to provide easy access and mobility for more frail or wheelchair bound people. All rooms have washing facilities and adjustable heating.
Residents may bring with them small items of personal furniture if they wish, subject only to available space and it being in a condition that is not detrimental to other people or property.
