Q: What activities do you have? A: Games, crafts, bingo, quizzes, etc.
Q: Do you have entertainment? A: Entertainers: singers, magicians, etc. visit at least monthly.
Q: Are there ever any outings? A: We go out for pub lunches. Other outings include visiting a petting farm, canal boat trips,
etc.
Q: What are the visiting hours? A: Residents are encouraged to treat Blackrod House as their own home therefore visitors are
welcome at any time.
Q: Do you allow children to visit? A: Children are always welcome
visitors.
Q: How many staff do you have on duty? A: The ratio is 1:5 in the morning, 1:8 in the afternoon/evening and 1:9 at
night.
Q: What are the meal
times? A: Breakfast is from 8.00 until the last person is up!
Lunch is at 12.00 and tea is at 5.00. Supper is at 8.00. These times are flexible and snacks are provided
throughout the day upon request.
Q: Can you cater for
diabetics? A: We can cater for any specialised
diet.
Q: Can I bring some of my own
furniture? A: Certainly, providing that it is in
good repair, does not breach any Health and Safety regulations, and
there is space for it.
Q: Can
I put pictures on the wall? A: Our handyman will be happy to put your pictures up where you want
them.
Q: Can I bring my
pet? A: Subject to the discretion of the
owners/management.
Q: Do you have your own
hairdresser? A: Yes, she visits fortnightly and charges very
reasonable prices.
Q: Do I need to bring my own
toiletries? A: We provide basic
toiletries.
Q: Can I keep my own G.P.? A: This is at the discretion of your G.P.
Q: Do you supply
newspapers? A: Yes, we provide a daily local
newspaper.
Q: Can I phone my relatives? A: Yes, you can use our phone to call any UK landline number.
Q: Can they phone me? A: No
problem!
Q: Do I need to send my clothes home for
washing? A: No, we do all your laundry on the
premises. It will be returned to you clean and ironed within 24
hours.
Q: I need to be hoisted - is that a
problem?
A: We have all necessary manual handling equipment, and all the staff are fully trained in moving and
handling.
Q: Do you have nurses on
duty? A: Nursing care is not provided in the home, however the
services of the District Nurses are
utilised as appropriate.
